On consecutive days, the Galesburg High School boys and girls golf teams brought home the hardware as regional champions. The boys took the title on Tuesday by just one stroke over Alleman on the Streaks’ home course at Bunker Links. Brandon Leon was the top scorer for Galesburg with a 74, good for third individually. Sean Peterson added at 75 and Matt Tamar a 76 to the Streaks total of 302. Alleman’s Ryan Rochholtz was the medalist with a 71. The GHS boys will play next at the Metamora Sectional.
The Streaks girls team won their regional title with room to spare on Wednesday. Their team-total of 317 at the Highland Springs course in Rock Island was 29 strokes better than runner-up Minooka. Taylor Nesselroad was the medalist with an even-par round of 72, while Kirsten Osborn added a 75 for coach Brad Gross’ team, which won its fourth straight regional trophy. Next up for the girls is Tuesday’s sectional tournament in Springfield.
