Illinois State Police say the driver of a Chrysler Sebring was killed and the passenger of the vehicle was taken by Life Flight to Peoria in a crash on U.S. 150 outside of Knoxville this afternoon.
Authorities arrived around 1:15 p.m. to the intersection of 150 and Illinois 97. A news release says the Sebring was traveling east on 150 when it pulled on 97 into the path of a loaded dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck was treated and released at the scene. Identities of the injured and deceased have not been released, pending family notification.
The intersection has been closed for some time and is expected to remain closed for part of the evening while an investigation ensues.
ISP was assisted at the scene by multiple agencies included the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner.
