They aren’t official results but it seems there are two new judges in the 9th Circuit while Knox County’s coroner was re-elected as well as some old and new faces on the Knox County Board.
Ray Cavanaugh and Heidi Benson will be seated on the bench in the 9th Judicial Circuit.
The pair of Republicans both won by similar margins over their respective opponents Jim Harrell and Dave Hansen.
Both Cavanaugh and Benson were already associate judges in the circuit.
Meanwhile with 63% of Knox County votes, County Coroner Mark Thomas was elected to another term over Stephen D. Anderson.
Thomas tells WGIL it feels good to be so supported by voters.
“Feels a heck of a lot better to win than lose but we’re happy with the results and I think the word we were trying to get out there that we’re dedicated to what we do and I think that showed in the poll results,” Thomas says.
The Knox County Board is going to be looking a little different as well.
Current members Bob Bondi and Lyle Johnson by no surprise, won seats.
They were unopposed as was new member David Amor.
Democrat Michael Nelson won a seat over Republican Dwight White in District Three.
In a head to head race John Hunigan was elected for a two-year term over Republican Courtney Torres.
George Knapp has lost his seat in District Four
Republican Jared Hawkinson and Democrat Sara Varner will take the remaining two seats.
