A slew of home invasions have been reported in Galesburg since Thursday, but police are asking residents not to be alarmed.
Two home invasions last night are believed to be related, while a Saturday home invasion and another incident reported Thursday are likely separate incidents.
According to police reports, both invasions yesterday involved three armed assailants. The first incident was reported at 7:17 p.m. in the 500 block of W. First Street. A victim told police two males pointed handguns at her, one demanding money. Another victim in the residence was also allegedly cut in the hand and struck in the head.
At 7:46 p.m., another home invasion was reported in the 200 block of Pine Street. Video surveillance showed two male assailants, one of whom pointed a gun at the victims head attempt to enter the residence.
Police Captain Rod Riggs says the incidents are allegedly drug related and were not likely random acts.
Additionally, a home invasion was reported Thursday where two assailants with firearms entered a Berrien St. home demanding money. The fourth home invasion was reported Saturday.
In that case, a male allegedly broke into a woman’s Mcknight St. residence and attempted to batter another man she was with. No arrests have been made yet in any of the incidents.
