A 22-year-old Galesburg man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries last night after he reported being stabbed in a home invasion.
According to a police report, the man had just returned home to his trailer in the 1700 block of Bateman Street.
When he entered, two unknown males dressed in all black and wearing ski masks had broken in and were inside the residence. After confronting the suspects, one of the assailants allegedly “started slashing at him.”
When authorities arrived just after 5 p.m., the man’s face and hands were covered in blood. He was found with cuts on his hand, arm, cheek and chin. Police set up a crime scene for investigation and called in a K-9 unit to come and search the area.
No suspects were located and police officials said today they continue to have no suspects in the case. At the scene, a lamp was overturned and blood was observed on the living room floor and in a hallway. A coat also had several visible cuts and rips.
The man reported a pocket knife missing but nothing else was reported missing.
