Rep. Cheri Bustos will hold a key position in the Democrat party as she steps into a new leadership role.
Bustos who just won her third term representing Illinois’ 17th District, will be a co-chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.

A release from Bustos’ press team says in this role she will work to improve the party’s outreach and communications efforts.

The committee is hoping to “underscore the values Democrats are fighting for” and to “hear the frustration that’s being felt in rural communities.”

The East Moline Democrat in a statement laments lost manufacturing jobs and expresses support for rural American frustrations.

While she says it’s clear from Election Day that Democrats haven’t been doing a great job of speaking to rural communities, she also blasts President-elect Donald Trump and congressional Republicans for plans to overhaul the Affordable Care Act and deregulate Wall Street.

Fellow co-chairs are Representatives of New York’s 8th District, Hakeem Jeffries and Rhode Island’s 1st District David Cicilline.
