The Galesburg Silver Streaks defeated the Salem Wildcats 62-32 in Game 2 of the Mattoon Holiday tournament. After leading 12-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, dominated the middle 2 quarters and in fact, they did not let Salem score a field goal the entire 3rd Quarter. Salem did not get their first field goal of the 2nd half until just under 4 minutes to play, right about halfway through the 4th Quarter.
It was Kaylah Townsell leading the way as far as the stat sheet with 13 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and 1 block. She got the Streaks going early with a couple of 3’s. She had the first 5 points for the Streaks. She was tonight’s Dave’s Autobody Crunchtime Player of the Game .
Emily Meinert finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks for the Streaks who out-rebounded Salem 34-25 with 13-7 on the offensive boards. The Streaks ended tonight with only 12 turnovers while Salem had 16.
Salem struggled from the free-throw line with 8 of 24, while the Streaks were 10 for 16.
