The City of Galesburg’s Finance Department has been awarded for their excellence in accounting and financial reporting.
The department was given the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
They were awarded based on their work during the 2015 calendar year.
The award is decided by a panel of impartial judges, who among other things assess based on a constructive “spirit of full disclosure.”
This isn’t the first time City Director of Finance Information Systems Gloria Osborn and staff have been recognized with the honor.
City Manager Todd Thompson says that the city is proud to “have such highly-qualified members on our team.”
The GFOA, that gives the award is a non-profit that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
