Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs United Township Panthers

GirlsBBvsUTPanthers

Here is a recap of tonight’s game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:

“The Galesburg Silver Streaks picked up their 16th win on the year. They’re now 16-4, more importantly 4-2 in the Western Big 6 Conference, alone in 2nd place, as they defeated the United Township Panthers by a final of 48-42. Streaks trailed most of the game, getting outscored 11-8 in the first quarter, 13-8 in the second quarter, trailing 24-16 at halftime, in fact they only scored 25 points through the first three quarters but then turned around and scored 23 in the telling fourth quarter.

“It was a balanced scoring attack for the Streaks, only one player in double figures. That was Kaylah Townsell with 12 points, she also had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. 8 points apiece for Kylee Townsell and Ellen JunkKylee also with 6 rebounds, an assist, and a block. Four of those rebounds coming in the fourth quarter and she was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Streaks went 14-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and that really was the difference in the ball game.

The Streaks will be back in action tomorrow night, hosting the Peoria High Lions, and that will be the opening game of the Martin Luther King Tournament. Streaks win it, final score Galesburg 48 United Township 42.”
