Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs Maine South

The Galesburg boys endured a deliberate offense by the Maine-South Hawks and held them off 34-31 to wrap up two victories at the Martin Luther King tournament tonight.

Mark Harden finished with a career high 15 point and he scored the first 11 for the Silver Streaks in the second half to help Galesburg build a 7 point lead but Maine-South rallied to get within 1, twice, but the Silver Streaks got a couple of late free throws by TJ Pendleton to setup the final score of the three point victory.

Pendleton finished with 9 and had 7 rebounds to lead the Streaks. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunchtime Player of the Game was Jacob Carl who had 7, including 5 big points in the 4th Quarter to help the Streaks hold off the Hawks.

Maine-South drops to 9-9 on the season and are 1-2 in the tournament. The Silver Streaks meanwhile improve to 12-8 and they are 3-0 in the tournament after a 65-57 win earlier in the day over Dunlap.

Galesburg now will play Minooka Monday afternoon in the final day of the tournament and that will be a noon game at John Thiel gym. The Streaks will then wrap it up in the last game of the tournament against Peoria at 7:00 Monday night. Peoria is also 3-0, so at this point, it could be a potential championship game between the two teams.
