The GHS Silver Streaks Girls came out on top against the Bloomington Purple Raiders tonight as they won 60-52. The Streaks outscored and lead the Raiders throughout the entirety of the game. Starting out strong with an 18-8 lead by the end of the first and cutting it close with 29-26 by half. During the second half though the Streaks really just pulled away. Galesburg was able to add 13 points compared to Bloomington’s 10.
Kaylah Townsell not only lead the Streaks in scoring with 27 points, but she also took the spot of our Dave’s Auto Body Player of the Game. She was also 10/12 in her free throws. Saige Milroy also had a good 2nd game for the day. She added her own 13 points. That includes another 4 3-pointers for her and she was 4/4 from the line. Ellen Junk had 11 points in the game and was 9/10 from the line. The Streaks as a whole had 17 straight free throw successes in the 2nd half. They totaled 12/12 in the 3rd quarter alone and 27/36 overall on their free throws. This win puts the Streaks at 21-5 for the season while Bloomington falls to 14-10.
That is the end of the Martin Luther King Tournament, and as of right now we have yet to hear of standings for the end of the tournament officially. The Streaks will be back in action next on Thursday at Moline against the Maroons. Pre-game time for that one is set for 6:06 with a tip-off scheduled to go at 6:30 with play by play from Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson.
