Here is a recap of this afternoon’s game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:
“The Galesburg Silver Streaks are now 22-6 after a 50-44 win over the Stillman Valley Cardinals in the Galesburg Shootout. The Streaks jumped out to an early 11-4 lead after the first quarter, but got outscored 20-9 in the second. They came back though and had a great second half, with an outstanding defense and great offense for the Streaks. They were lead by Kaylah Townsell’s 12 points, she also had 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocked shots and Kaylah was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She had a nice run with a steal, a couple of nice assists, and also had huge steal down the stretch to help seal it for the Streaks.
“Emily Meinert came off the bench and scored 10 points for the Streaks on 5 baskets, she also had a rebound, an assist, and a blocked shot. The Streaks were 10/14 from the free-throw line, hit 6 3-pointers in the game, and only turned the ball over 8 times. Stillman Valley was lead by Grace Timm with 17 points. Their all-stater Macy Weaver, headed to Arkansas, scored 13 points. The Streaks did a really nice job on her defensively and a really good job on their guards, preventing them from getting good passes inside to the 6’3″ center. Streaks are now 22-6 they win it 50-44.”
The Streaks will be back in action next week on Thursday night to take on the Quincy Blue Devils in Quincy. Pre-game time for that one is set to go at 6:10pm with a tip-off scheduled to go at 6:30pm with live play by play as always from Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson.
