Robert “Bob” R. Rosenberry, 68 of rural Abingdon, passed away at 7:32 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center emergency room in Galesburg.He was born July 10, 1948 in Galesburg, the son of Ross and Lucille Ross Rosenberry.  He married Betty Malone on April 8, 1965 in Cameron.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Betty; two daughters, Teresa (Tom) Irons and Barbie (Phillip) Day all of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Daniel Irons, Jessica Irons, Katie Day and Alex Day; one sister, Margaret Coombs of Galesburg; one sister-in-law, Amelia Rosenberry of rural Abingdon; and nieces and nephews and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roger.

He attended Abingdon High School.  He farmed the family farm west of Abingdon since he was 16 years old.  He was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau.  He served the Berwick Township as a trustee, election judge, worked for various road commissioners from 1974 to 1993 prior to being elected road commissioner in 1993 and served until 1997.  He was a charter member and past president of the Skywatch CB Club, and he was instrumental in training the group to be weather watchers.  He was an active member of the Abingdon Christian Church and served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder, chairman of the board, depositing treasurer, choir member and directed the choir from 2004 to December of 2016.  Robert was a member of the Men-of-Note singing group, a barbershop quartet, and performed with Choral Dynamics from 1997 to 2008.  Robert had a passion for music.  He enjoyed singing, whistling, and playing the piano and tenor saxophone. His family and grandchildren brought him the most joy.  Robert was well-known for greeting everyone with a firm handshake.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main St. in Abingdon.  Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the church.  Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate.  Burial will follow the service at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
