Mr. Gary L. Daniels, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:24 am Friday, March 31, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born September 15, 1947 in Galesburg, the son of Velma Daniels and Palmer Cutcher He married Pam Rednour on October 25, 1969 Galesburg.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pam; his mother, Velma Cross; his son, Tony Daniels all of Galesburg; his two daughters, Tina (Chad) Ponder of Knoxville, Illinois and Traci (Tyler) Lannholm of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Doug Robertson, Lexi Daniels, Will and Clara Ponder, Trenton and Justin Lannholm and two step grandchildren, Noah and Ethan Lannholm. He is preceded in death by his brother, Perry and his step fathers, Palmer Cutcher and Clair Cross.

Gary served in the US Army during Vietnam War from 1967-1968 as a helicopter door gunner for the 92nd Assault Helicopter Company.

Gary worked for Gates Rubber for over 30 years. He later worked for the Parts House and Car Quest. He also was a bus driver for District 205. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965. He was a member of the VFW #2257 and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Gary loved spending time with his son, Tony sprint car racing. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and attending all of their school or sport events.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Michel Clark will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, April 3, 2017 at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery with military honors by the VFW 2257/American Legion 285 Veterans Honor Guard.
