
John A. Yarde Sr., 75, of Alexis, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
He was born May 1, 1942, in Galesburg, the son of Albert and Ruth (Johnson) Yarde. He married Beverly A. Kemp on November 26, 1972, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Beverly; five children, Peggy (and Jim) Humphrey of Galesburg, John (and Lisa) Yarde Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa, Jason (and Annie) Yarde of Vader, Washington, Kim (and Eric) Morton of Hereford, Arizona, and Joshua (and Kat) Yarde of Galesburg; 16 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Paul.
John had worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 ½ years. He also was a school bus driver for Alexis schools for nine years. His dream job of 15 years was driving an over the road semi-truck.
He graduated from Alexis High School and earned an associate’s degree in electrical from Carl Sandburg College. John could often be found reading books at his kitchen table. He was a man of many projects around the family home, tearing down sheds or dropping fences.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randall Clark officiating.
