CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago woman accused of slamming her car into another woman and killing her last month has been charged with murder.
28-year-old Kenya Washington was arrested on Saturday and appeared in court on Sunday, where a judge ordered her held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Her arrest came shortly after the Cook County medical examiner’s office announced that Weems died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle and ruled her death a homicide.
Police say that on May 17, Washington had gotten into an argument with someone on the city’s West Side when she climbed into a car and drove into “multiple people” and dragged Weems underneath the vehicle.
