CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say they are searching for the gunman who wounded an officer last week following an attempted store robbery.
The two men being held in the botched robbery Friday of a cellphone store were ordered held Monday without bond on attempted first-degree murder charges.
Twenty-year-old Donzell Grant and 24-year-old Cortez Harrington were also charged with armed robbery with a firearm, and kidnapping with a firearm.
Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Jennifer Bagby says Grant and the unnamed suspect at large entered a T-Mobile store and marched four store employees to the back of the store at gunpoint. The employees were bound with zip-ties. A female customer managed to run out and call police.
During an exchange of gunfire with the suspects one officer was shot in the leg. Both Grant and getaway driver Cortez Harrington were later arrested by police.
