
Edward Lee Lindsey, Jr., 72 of Galesburg, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
He was born January 24, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Edward L. Lindsey, Sr. and Maxine Rose Butterfield Lindsey. He married Annie Jo McCulloch in 1978.
Ed is survived by a daughter, Heather Lindsey-Clark of Galesburg; a brother, Gary R. (and Brenda) Lindsey of East Galesburg; and two grandchildren, Alexander Clark and Tre’ Crider.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed was raised in Galesburg and attended Galesburg High School, graduating in 1964. He then enlisted in the US Navy for the next six years, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon discharge from the military he worked as a police officer and later moved to Abingdon, where he worked as a police officer for the City of Abingdon for 25 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Abingdon Masonic Lodge #864 and a member of the USS Platte Association. He was of the Protestant Faith. His hobbies included anything with electronics, sitting outside in the sun and he enjoyed good food.
As he requested, cremation will be accorded. Graveside service with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017, at Warren County Hope Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
