
Daniel Joseph Caves, 35, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly at 12:21 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017, in the emergency room of Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Sunday, May 30, 1982, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, the son of Brian Caves and Rhonda (Witherbee) Jones. He married Dana Marie Raska on August 20, 2013, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Dana; a daughter, Ella Rose Caves at home; a step-son, Ean Christian at home; his mother, Rhonda Jones (and Kerry Chandlee) of Galesburg; his father, Brian Caves of Gilson; grandparents, Ernest and Wanda Caves of Galesburg; two sisters, Brandi (and Joshua) Adams of Galesburg and their children, Vanessa, Jordan, and Trevor and Jill Caves of Iowa and her children Nicholas, Jamin, and Mylah; two brothers, Brent Caves of Gilson and his children, Karli and Byrce and Aron Pearson of Prophetstown; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Velma Witherbee and Margaret and Rod Sauder; and a great grandmother, Grace.
Dan was currently working as the manager at Peoples Rental. He had worked as a contractor and roofer previously. He was studying to take the realtor/broker test. Dan was an accomplished guitarist, playing with several area bands as lead singer and guitarist. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Dan was dedicated to his family, always supporting them. He enjoyed taking his kids fishing and attending their activities. He was a gentle, non-judgmental man. No one will ever forget his crazy sense of humor.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his children. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
