Mr. Claire William Ditto, 93, of Amana, Iowa formerly of Galesburg, Illinois went home very peacefully with his family by his side at 8:30 pm Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana, Iowa.

He was born December 19, 1923 in Gladstone, Illinois the son of William Francis and Grace Brown Ditto. He married R. Pearl Admire on October 25, 1942 in Palmyra, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2016.

Claire is survived by his son, John C. (Patricia) Ditto of Lake Jackson, Texas; two daughters, Janet (James) Killey of Roseville, Illinois and Judy (Stephen) Anderson of Fairfax, Iowa; his sister, Vera (Robert) Jern of Monmouth, Illinois; two half sisters, Delores Sweezer of Burlington, Iowa and Betty Remaly of California; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter coming in January. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Louise Pierson.

Claire served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.

Claire was a quiet man who dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He worked as a lineman for Illinois Power Company for over 30 years. He graduated from Biggsville High School. Claire was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 70 years. He was a former member of the Covenant Church in Galesburg and the Oregon United Methodist Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 am Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with military honors by VFW 2257/Legion 285 Veterans Honor Guard.
