Here is a re-cap of tonight’s game from WGIL’s, Brad Bennewitz:
Silver Streaks offense and defense both got off to a good start in their battle at home against Moline, but a good start does not make a complete game as Moline controlled everything and from that point forward in a 35-7 routing of the Streaks at home. Eric Mathey had two touchdown runs out of the Quarterback spot and even a freshman player ran a 91-yard touchdown late in the game.
Moline had three players who rushed for over a 100-yards, going for their 3rd straight win and improved to 2-0 in the Western Big 6.
Silver Streaks got hit hard by the injury bug as Dawson Johnson, Chris Sholl and Kobe Ramirez (the lead running back for Galesburg) all left the game. Ramirez was still the leading rusher for the Streaks with 68-yards as Galesburg’s only score came from a 70-yard touchdown pass, a catch-and-run from Clark Hawkins to Jacob Carl.
The Dave’s Autobody Crunch-time Player of the Game tonight was Devon McIntosh as he caught a key 3rd down reception that helped keep the drive alive that resulted in the Carl touchdown but that was not enough as the Streaks fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Sophomores will play tomorrow at 9:00 at home and the freshman will play on the road at 10:00 on the road as those games got moved forward due to the heat.
35-7 was the final tonight as the Streaks play at home again next week against the United-Township Panthers for Homecoming.
