Phyllis E. Kness

Phyllis E. Kness, 78 of Williamsfield, passed away at 3 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg.

She was born November 6, 1938 in Peoria, the daughter of Roy and Onieta Billmeyer Little.  She married Don Kness.

Phyllis is survived by three sons, John (Marie) Kness of Oneida, David Kness of Williamsfield and Duane Kness of Laura; five grandchildren, Kalyn Kness, Logan, Kness, Tori Kness, Susan Kness and Hanna LeFort; one sister, Valerie Pecoy of Williamsfield; three brothers, LeRoy (JoAnne) Little of Williamsfield, Dale (Carol) Little of Avon and Richard Little of Silver Springs, Florida; a sister-in-law, Doris Little of E. Moline; and nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Eugene “Gene” Little, two sisters, Fern Rodemich and Leona Yelm, and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Little.

She grew up in Williamsfield and graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1956.  She later attended Carl Sandburg College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting.  She was a retired factory worker and had worked at L. R. Nelson and Gale Products.  She also worked in the parts department at Wight Chevrolet in Williamsfield for 15 years.  She had lived most of her life in Williamsfield and a short time in California.  Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, reading love novels, but most of all, going to the area riverboats.

Cremation will be accorded.  As she requested, no services will be held.  Private scattering of her ashes will be at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
