Mr. Marvin L. Johnson, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:38 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center.

He was born November 18, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Clarence and Frances Lund Johnson. He married Jean Marie Weinberg on April 12, 1946 in Knoxville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2014.

Marvin is survived by his three sons, David L. Johnson of Decatur, Illinois, Alan D. (and wife, Lillian) Johnson of Medina, Minnesota and Clark E. (and wife, Vivian) Johnson of Encino, California; his daughter, Patty L. (and husband, Greg Gallant) Johnson of Ventura, California, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers.

Marvin served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater with Cannon Company, 347th Infantry Regiment and 87th Infantry Division.

Throughout his career, he was a buyer, purchasing manager or general manager for several companies, spanning Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Oklahoma, retiring as general manager of Clark Seals, LTD in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Illinois. Marvin was a member of the Covenant Church.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
