Shirley Krause died Monday, September 25, 2017 at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur, Illinois.
Shirley was born January 30, 1931 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Paul A. and Cora (Johnston) Chisman.
She married Charles E. “Gene” Krause on June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2010.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Carrigan (and Michael) of Decatur and two sons, Charles F. “Rick” Krause of Highland Park, Illinois and Paul (and Charlotta) Krause of Montgomery, Illinois. Also surviving are four grandchildren, one step-grandson, and three great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a graduate of Western Illinois University and was a long-time elementary school teacher in District 205, Galesburg, Illinois.
She was a member of the Knox County Retired Teachers Association and an honorary member of the Knox College Fifty Year Club. She was also active for many years in the Round Table Study Club and a member of the PEO.
Cremation was accorded and private burial will be in Memorial Park in Galesburg. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements for the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
