Jerry R. Davis, 78, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:27 pm, Monday, October 9, 2017 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1939 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Ralph and Hazel (Abbadusky) Davis. He attended Monmouth, IL schools.
Jerry married Margaret A. Gipson on Dec 2, 1960 in Monmouth, IL, she survives.
He began his working career at Vaughn’s Moving Company, Jerry then worked for Wells Pet Food Corp in Monmouth for 22 years and later worked for United Facilities, Galesburg, IL until his retirement in 2002. In his earlier years Jerry much enjoyed fishing, gardening, “shooting” pool, playing horseshoes, pitch and listening to country/bluegrass music. He loved to cook and was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret, sons, Dennis Davis of Monmouth, IL, Tim (Denise) Davis of Mediapolis, IA, daughter, Debi (Arnold) Askew of Wilton, IA, half-brother Don (Elane) Catton of Silvis, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Hayley VanVleet, Drew Davis, Janessa Jones, Jakob Davis and 2 great-grandchildren; Navin Davis and Jaden Anderson.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be in Little York Cemetery, Little York, IL.
