A Galesburg man has been arrested on possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia following multiple calls to police for a late night noise complaint.

Galesburg Police responded three times overnight to the 1100 block of McClure Street for loud music called in by a neighbor – the final complaint coming at around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

According to reports, officers noted that resident of the house – 46-year-old Keith E. Mahnesmith – allegedly was slurring his words and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Officers suspected drug use as well.

He was placed in handcuffs and searched – allegedly finding a small, clear zip-locked bag with a clear, crystallized substance inside as well as a white plastic tube with the same substance lining the inside.

Field testing of the bag and tube came back positive for methamphetamine.

Mahnesmith was booked in the Knox County Jail.
