Frances Mary Lowney, 98, of Springfield, formerly of Galesburg, died peacefully at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday October 22, 2017 at home.Frances was born July 11, 1919 in Ellisville, the daughter of Lloyd and Dena A. (Dallefeld) Giberson. She married Philip Edward Lowney on April 21, 1941 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg. Phil preceded her in death on July 23, 2008. Frances is survived by one daughter, Rosalie (Douglas) Polite of Sherman; three granddaughters, Ann Jameson, Susan (Alan) Brinkoetter, and Elizabeth (Blake) Bradley; six great grandchildren, Colin and Will Jameson, Katelyn and Grace Brinkoetter, and Clare and Audrey Bradley; and the beloved family dog, Izzy. Along with her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by a great grandson, John Paul Bradley.

Frances worked for several years at Fleck’s Dress Store in Galesburg and later worked for the Galesburg Public Library. She was a longtime member and volunteer at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Frances loved to cook and tend to her garden. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed passing on many family stories and history. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. A funeral mass will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg. Rev. William T. Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may directed to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.
