Glenn D. Potter, 94, of Galesburg, died at 9:02 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.Glenn was born August 11, 1923, in Knox County, the son of Alvin Dean and Iva (Simkins) Potter. Glenn entered the USMC on ??, serving in WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on ???. Glenn married Evelyn Mary Karlovich on August 16, 1947 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2005.

Glenn is survived by two daughters, Carol (Patrick) Ivers of Omaha, NE and Patricia (Timothy) Godsil of Fort Worth, TX; two granddaughters, Erin (Joshua) Greer of Diamondhead, MS and Kelsie Ivers of Omaha, NE; as well as two great grandchildren, Ashton and Easton Greer; and the beloved great granddog, Charlee. Along with his parents and wife, Glenn was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Glenn worked as a foreman at Butler Mfg. for ?? years, retiring in 1982. In his younger years, Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He also loved playing cards. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and was rewarded in being able to watch them win the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, especially having everyone gather around his kitchen table in his home.

Private family graveside services will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton, IL. Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. No visitation is planned. A celebration of Glenn’s life will be announced at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
