Here’s a re-cap of tonight’s game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
After getting off to a difficult first quarter at Rock Island-Alleman when the Galesburg boys’ basketball team fell behind 18-11 but the Streaks reversed the pace and essentially, ran what they wanted to run the rest of the way in a 66-61 hard fought victory.
Galesburg outscored Alleman by 8 in the 2nd Quarter to take their first lead of the game at halftime, 32-31, then continued to build on the lead in the 3rd and 4th Quarters. Galesburg put 3 players in double-figures led by our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game, Andrew Anderson who finished with a double-double, 18 points and 12 rebounds. Cornell Dotson finished with 17, Jacob Carl had 10, and Khalil Hodge just missed double-figures with 9.
Galesburg improves to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Western Big 6 conference with both of those victories coming on the road last week against U-T and tonight’s game against Rock-Island Alleman.
Galesburg will now head into the Iowa/Illinois Shoot-Out coming up Saturday afternoon against Bettendorf, the 4th game out of the 7 with the broadcast at 2:55 with a 3:15 scheduled tip-off from Augustana College.
Galesburg sophomores were also winners as they won it big over Alleman, 54-25.
