Diana Jane Schoonover, 79 of Abingdon, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at her home.She was born October 19, 1938 in Abingdon, the daughter of Duane Eugene and Myrtle Audrey Berry Simpson.  She married Clifford Dee “Schoony” Schoonover on June 4, 1955 in Abingdon.  He preceded her in death on April 23, 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Duane Simpson, Jr., three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Diana is survived by three daughters, her twin daughters, Teri (Jan) Squire of Abingdon and Sheri (Barry) Buchen of Abingdon, and her daughter, Kayla Queen of Burlington, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Brad (Angie) Buchen of Galesburg, Brett (Brooke) Buchen of Coal Valley, Jeff (Melanie) Squire of Abingdon, Joel (Jennifer) Squire of Knoxville, Jared Squire of Peoria, Amanda Queen of Morton, Amber Queen of Abingdon and Ashley Queen of Abingdon; two step-grandchildren, Patrick Squire and James Squire both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; twelve great-grandchildren, Madison Squire, Mitchell Squire, Alex Buchen, Brenna Buchen, Nolan Buchen, Reece Buchen, Jayden Squire, Jaycie Squire, JT Squire, Abby Tinkham, Alexis Ray, and Mason Little; one step-great-grandchild, Collin Coursey; three sisters, Dorris Ruff of Abingdon, Joanne Campbell of Preston, Iowa and Darlene (Bill) Sayrs of Galesburg; one brother, David John (Sharon) Simpson of Lee Center; her brother-in-law, Lynn (Diane) Schoonover of Roseville; three special nieces, Sheila (Bill) Day of Abingdon, Sharol (Jim) Ryan of Cameron and Kandy Sayrs of Galesburg; her fur friends, Minnie and Bella; her special friend, Janet Turner and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She had lived in Abingdon all of her life and attended Abingdon schools. She was of the Christian faith.  She worked at the A&W Restaurant, Wareco, Abingdon Industries, Video Corner, Abingdon Flower Shop and Ma & Pa’s Liquor.  Her hobbies included baking, cooking, cleaning and collecting antiques.  Diana had a kind heart and was always willing to help those in need.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Hospice Compassus Chaplain Roger Carlson will officiate.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
