Beverly “Bev” Jean White, 86, of Galesburg, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Center.She was born September 4, 1931, in Ellisville, Illinois, the daughter of Keith P. and Lillian V. (Hoyt) Sullivan. She married Richard L. White on August 26, 1950.

She is survived by a son, Richard L. White Jr. (Stuart Rosenthal) of Germantown Hills; a daughter, Pamela J. (Gary) Doyle of Monmouth; three grandchildren, Benjamin P. White, Bryan K. Doyle, and Anne V. Smith; four great granddaughters, Olivia and Naomi Smith and Jane and Claire White; a brother, Roger Sullivan of Peoria; a sister, Karen (Larry) Batterton of London Mills; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jerry Sullivan and Phil Sullivan.

Bev first worked as a bookkeeper at Gale Credit Union for 18 years.   She then began working at Galesburg High School in the bookroom before advancing to the main office. She later moved to the District 205 Board of Education office, where she retired as district bookkeeper in 1995.

She graduated from Valley High School in 1949. She was of Methodist faith. Bev enjoyed working in her flower garden, crafting such as sewing and ceramics, and reading. She was an excellent cook. Bev was devoted to her family and her dogs.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ryan Smith officiating.   Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
