Mrs. Hope L. Teel, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:06 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Seminary Manor Nursing Home.She was born July 27, 1932 in Keithsburg, Illinois the daughter of Mark and Susanna Baer Houfburg. She married Donald L. Teel on March 20, 1955 in Kirkwood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2002.

Hope is survived by her three sons, Dale (Melanie) Teel of Rio, Illinois, Dan Teel of Galesburg and Mark Teel of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; five grandchildren, Andrew, Cameron, Ella, Jacob and Danielle Teel; many nieces and nephews, cousins and abundance of friends dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Holland and Carl Houfburg and two sisters, Carol Fullerton and Faith Mikita.

Hope had been an administrative assistant for OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She later worked for the Department of Public Aid and last worked as a teacher’s aide for District 205. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church and was currently attending the First Presbyterian Church. Hope served as a Sunday school teacher and the Jr. Choir director for the First Baptist Church. Hope was a popular local vocalist for over 40 years, also participating in the Galesburg Community Chorus. One of her greatest achievements was recording two albums, religious and contemporary/classical. Hope’s main role was being a supportive wife to her husband, Donald and his 40 plus year commitment to the Knox County Agriculture community. She took pride in being a positive role model to her three boys.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Rick Welty will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 am Wednesday at the church.
