The Galesburg Silver Streaks‘ are now 4-1 in championship games at the Mattoon Holiday Tournament as they win another one tonight 42-29 over the host, Mattoon Green Wave.
Streaks put two players on the All-Tournament team with Andrea Sampson and Yvonne Mixon. Yvonne did not have a big scoring night but she was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-time Player of the Game with 4 points, 16 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots as she set the tone early in the game with 2 baskets and 5 rebounds in the 1st Quarter. In fact, her rebound total equaled the total of Mattoon who also had 16 as a team as the Silver Streaks’ dominated the rebounding 35-16.
Scoring wise, it was Andrea Sampson and Emily Meinert leading the way, each with 12 points. Kelsey Legge had 7 points all coming from the free-throw line.
