
No charges have been filed yet in two separate accidents that happened Friday on US 34 in Warren County.
Just before 1:30 in the afternoon, Illinois State Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Alexis/North Henderson Fire Department, and Alexis Ambulance responded to an accident on 34 near 100th street.
According to a release from the ISP, a west bound 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by 45-year-old Theresa Perez of Monmouth lost control of her vehicle and began sliding side to side.
42-year-old Anthony Thompkins of Kansas City could not get slowed down because of the snowy conditions and struck the jeep – pushing his west bound 2015 Toyota Sienna into a guard rail.
Perez, and a 14-year-old juvenile passenger in Thompkins’ vehicle were taken to OSF Holy Family in Monmouth with minor injuries.
A second accident occurred just after 4:45 on 34 near 150th street. It involved 51-year-old Tonya L. Sebern of Galesburg and 26-year-old Trevor W. Ashwood of Cuba.
According to the ISP, Sebern was driving her 2006 Ford Taurus and attempted to pass Ashwood’s 2016 Freighterline Truck Tractor when she lost control and was struck by the semi.
Sebern was transported to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg.
Assistance was provided by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Monmouth Fire Department, Cameron Fire Department, and Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service.
In both situations, seat belts were worn and roadways were snow covered.
