Dorothy L. Harlow, 91, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at Roseville Rehabilitation & Health Care, Roseville, IL.
She was born on March 18, 1926 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Edward and Dagny (Youngstrand) Carlson. Dorothy was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944.
Dorothy married Huston Harlow, Jr. on November 26, 1949 in Galesburg, IL; he preceded her in death on April 16, 2004.
Dorothy was a farm wife and homemaker all her life. She loved raising and taking care of her family. Dorothy was a member of the Jennie Killey Unit of the Warren County Home Extension for over 60 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and its women’s circles. In her later years she attended Fairview Center United Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed word searches, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving Dorothy are two daughters, Elgie (Kenneth) Deimeke of Mexico, MO, Jean (Dave) Harlow-Truesdell of Jacksonville, IL; daughter-in-law, Ruth Harlow of Monmouth, IL, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jim Harlow, brother and sister-in-law, Don and Rita Carlson.
Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Fairview Center United Methodist Church or the Roseville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Activity Department.
