Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs Rock Island Rocks

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team lost to Rock Island tonight, 77 – 37. The Streaks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on Rock Island, but the Rocks stormed back and had a 26-6 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. The Streaks did play even with them at 16 points a piece in the 2nd quarter, but it was all Rock Island the rest of the night as the 4th ranked team in Class 4A showed why they are one of the best in the country. Rock Island is now 8-0 in the Western Big 6.

Galesburg had nobody in double figures. Yvonne Mixon lead the way with 9 points and 13 rebounds, 8 points for Andrea Sampson, and 7 for Emily Meinert before she fouled out. The Streaks shot just 1 for 13 beyond the 3-point arc, they were 11 for 44 from the field, and turned the ball over 21 times.

The Silver Streaks are now 14-14 on the season and 3-5 in the Western Big 6. The sophomores also fell to the Rocks tonight, 53-41.
