Terry Alan Havens, 74, of Gilson, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Seminary Manor in Galesburg.He was born July 3, 1943, in Avon, the son of Allen Eugene and Olive Viola (Prebble) Havens. He married Patty Allen in 1962, Donna Rider in 1979, and Marilyn “Sue” Sexton on November 4, 2017 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Gilson; a daughter, Pamela Havens Gossett (husband, Bill) of Brimfield; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Dan Havens of Walla Walla, Washington. He was preceded in death his parents; a son, Troy Havens in 2014; and a brother, Ronald Havens in 2016.
Terry was raised and educated in Abingdon, where he attended Abingdon High School and Abingdon Christian Church. He was a concrete truck driver for Builders Supply in Galesburg for 30 years. He then owned and operated the Whispering Oaks Campground for 20 years. Terry enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, and riding his bike.
Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned at this time. Private family graveside services will be held later at Abingdon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Abingdon is handling arrangements for the family.
