Joseph Lewis Smith “Louie”, age 78 danced his last dance on earth April 5, 2018 at the Marigold Nursing home surrounded by his wife Patty Smith and his family.Louie was born in Galesburg IL on March 19, 1940 to Thomas Robert McCullum and Josephine Watkins. He had one brother and one sister who proceeded him in death. He graduated from Roseville. On September 28, 1991 he married Patty Bulson Olson in Altona IL combining their lives and families together, he leaves behind two daughters Karla Smith, Galesburg, Carrie (Tim) Strange, Nashville TN and three sons Joseph Dean (Monica)Smith North Carolina, Robbie (Chasity) Smith Galesburg, and Rob (Laura) Olson, Henderson IL. Louie was a wonderful and caring grandfather of 7 grandchildren, 3 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Louie worked his earlier years in construction before getting into the awning business. He worked at Galesburg Canvas Products before purchasing the company and naming it Canvas Creations where he retired in 2014. Louie enjoyed having a cold Keystone lite while watching NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs and was a huge Chicago Bears fan.
Those wishing to honor Louie are invited to celebrate his life with his family on Monday April 9, 2018 at the Wataga Fire Station from 4-8 PM with a family remembrance at 7 PM.
