Mrs. Marian F. Hopkins, 97, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 6:45 a.m..m Monday June 25, 2018 at her home at the Hawthorne Inn.Marian was born June 12, 1921 in Chicago to Claude E. and Viola F. (Long) Smith. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1939. After high school, Marian attended Brown Business School for a time before she began working as a secretary forAdmiral until she retired at the end of 1978.
She married John Edward Hopkins in Galesburg on December 12, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1999.
Marian was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was once a part of the women’s group at Bethel Baptist and enjoyed traveling with her husband, John, to places like Europe, Palm Springs, and especially Hawaii.
Marian is survived by her sister-in-law Illeen Hopkins of Galesburg; niece Peg Weibenga of Cedar Falls, Iowa, as well as several more nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Claudia Wiebenga.
