Brenda L. Kounse, 65, of Avon, IL, passed away at 12:41 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her home.
She was born on February 1, 1953 in Avon, IL, the daughter of Everett and Wilma (Daniels) Brookhart. Brenda was raised and educated in Avon and attended Avon High School. She then attended Robert Morris College in Carthage, IL earning her Medical Assistant Degree.
Brenda married Doug Kounse on April 8, 2008 in Hawaii, he survives.
Brenda first worked as a phlebotomist at the Avon Clinic for several years. She then worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for a time. Brenda worked part time at the Flower Junction in Bushnell, IL, most recently. She loved working with flowers and was a great cook. Most of all, Brenda loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving Brenda is her husband, Doug Kounse of Avon, IL; her children, Angela (James) Adams of Galesburg, IL, Josh (Allison) Voorhees of Abingdon, IL, Heath (Amanda) Voorhees of Abingdon, IL; twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is her special friend, Shelli Taylor of Oneida, IL, and her fur baby and best friend, EJ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Karen McCone.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Walnut Grove Methodist Church.
