James L. Jackson, 57, of Galesburg, formerly of Kewanee, died at 1:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Harold L. Boyd will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the James Jackson Memorial Fund.

He was born March 4, 1961 in Galesburg, the son of James H. and Marietta R. (Taylor) Jackson. Survivors include his mother of Galesburg, two step-children, Ronnie Baker of Seattle, WA and Ryan Baker of Kewanee, his children, Nicole Taylor-McGee of Galesburg and Raven Jackson of Kewanee, two brothers, Gregory (Cindy) Jackson of Monmouth, IL and Darnell (Amy) Jackson of La Vista, NE, his sister, Linda Jackson of Kewanee, seven grandchildren and six nieces and nephews; Christine Donihoo, Tayler Jackson, Gregory Jackson, Anissa Jackson, Brittyn Carreau and Everleigh Rashid. He was preceded in death by his father.

James graduated from Kewanee High School in 1979 and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked as cook at the Sirloin Stockade in Galesburg. He attended the Israel of God’s Church in Galesburg. He enjoyed fishing and hanging with his friends and family and he especially enjoyed taking care of his mother.
