Daniel E. Hunt, 54, of rural Galesburg, died unexpectedly in his sleep Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at home.He was born November 29, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Orville and Delores Viola (Johnson) Hunt. He married Angela Rae Sims Rodgers on October 3, 2011 in Jamaica.
He is survived by his wife, Angie; a step-son, Jacob (Lynn) Rodgers of Columbus, Ohio; a step-daughter, Jasmine (Paul Kurutsides) Rodgers of Dubuque, Iowa; a brother, Stan (Diane) Hunt of Aledo; a sister, Kathy (Randy) Downard of Rio; his mother-in-law, Cathy Peterson of Oneida; brothers-in-law, Joe (Meleiah) Sims of Galesburg, Rick (Kimberly) Sims of Alpha, and Jamie (Jana) Sims of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his fathers-in-law, Joe Sims and Kenny Peterson; an infant brother; and two infant sisters.
Dan grew up in Rio, graduating from ROVA High School in 1981. He had a lifelong involvement in the printing industry, working for various printing firms. In 2007, he became the owner of the Rio Printing Company, a business that he was still operating.
Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing ping pong, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an accomplished woodworker who made beautiful furniture.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family memorial services will be held at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Karna Peterson will officiate. No public visitation will be held at this time, but a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
