Randy D. Goben, 69, of Knoxville, died at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.He was born July 24, 1949, in Moline, the son of Orville and Lucy Ione (Orwig) Goben. He married Lucina Plue on March 29, 1974, in Victoria. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lucy; four sons, Dale Goben in Missouri, Pete (Miranda) Goben, Jeremie (Lisa) Goben, and Shawn (Delaney) Goben, all of Knoxville; a daughter, Randi Goben of Galesburg; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Steve Goben of New Windsor; a sister, Sandy (Terry) Strandberg of Coal Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Ronnie, Roger, Victor, Larry, Dennis, Benne, and Michael; and a sister, Sally Polk. Randy worked at a service station in New Windsor and ran the former Imperial Gas Station in Galesburg. He also worked at the Ford garage for many years. Later, he worked as a supervisor, then as an engineer at Maytag for 15 years, before retiring. He graduated from Moline High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. Randy was an excellent mechanic who always helped others, never charging for his services. He taught his sons to do the same. He enjoyed classic cars, hot rods, and NASCAR. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Randy enjoyed Kitchen Cooked potato chips and Coke, while relaxing in his recliner. His family knew better than to get into his chips. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.   Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the chapel.
