Mr. Keith Richard Scholey, 73, of Galesburg passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center.Keith was born November 3, 1944 in Eldora, Iowa to Weldon H. and Faye E. (Smith) Scholey. He married Jeannie Scholey in Orion, Illinois; she preceded him in death on May 6, 2018.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Doug) Berry of Las Vegas, Nevada; two step daughters, Terri (Todd) Wilson-Niles of Fort Myers, Florida and Michele (Michael) Dennis of Abingdon; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers, David Scholey, Roger Scholey, and Jerry Scholey; one sister, Mary Scholey-Galbraith, and one nephew, Scott Galbraith.

Keith was the owner of an Antique Store and drove trucks for a living. He served in the US Navy for two years during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed Pre 1840’s reenactments, shooting black powder guns, reading or watching anything about Westerns and following in his father’s footsteps by making several different types of candy.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held Sunday August 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Lincoln Park in Galesburg with Military Honors by the VFW, American Legion and AmVets Honor Guard. A gathering will follow services at the Gazebo. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Defenders of Freedom: Veterans Home.
