It’s a weekend full of fall festivals

The non-profit AGES Community which help orchestrate the “Walk of the Dead” in Galesburg every year in October is looking for volunteers. 

“Walk of the Dead” is held annually at the Lakeside Nature Center. Volunteer informational meetings will be held Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm – anyone interested in more information can stop by Lakeside Nature Center next to Lakeside Splashzone, follow the event on Facebook, or CLICK HERE.

The Galesburg’s Farmers’ Market returns tomorrow in the parking lot between Kellogg and Simmons downtown from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

It’s a weekend full of festivals with the return of the 46th Annual Orion Fall Festival. Things get underway starting Friday, August 31st with the carnival, food tent, and arts and crafts tent. Friday also features a pie auction, street dance and live entertainment by the Zach Zurcher Band and Lynn Allen. Saturday, September 1st events include the 10 mile and 5K Runs, rummage sales, kid’s tractor pull, sand volleyball, and live entertainment tomorrow night by Cheese Pizza and Moonshine Run. Sunday, September 2nd continues with a car show, the cub scout soap box derby, and featured band Dirt Road Rockers. The 65th Annual Kewanee Hog Days gets underway Friday, August 31st. Starting at 5:00 pm is the C.D.A.C. carnival and concessions in downtown Kewanee. The world’s largest outdoor pork barbecue continues throughout the long weekend in Berrien Park. Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd from 9:00 am until dusk is the Hog Days Flea Market and Craft Show.

Exclusive Saturday events includes the 42nd Annual Hog Days Stampede and Fitness run at the YMCA beginning at 8:00 am. Nelson Enterprises Helicopter Rides will start taking of Saturday beginning at noon. The Clown Around Kids Carnival gets underway at noon followed by the Hog Days Parade at 2:00 pm. At the main stage at 7:30 pm, Generation will take the stage followed by the late night live concert featuring the Joe Stamm Band in the beer garden from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am. Sunday includes the 34th Hog Wallow Mud Volleyball Classic beginning at 8:00am the garden tractor pull at 1:00 pm, and live entertainment all afternoon. It’s the Marhshall Putnam Stark Show Choir at noon, 3AM will take the stage at 3:00 pm, Suburban Cowboys continue at 7:30 pm followed by Whiskey High in the beer garden from 10:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Monday includes the Fly-In breakfast in coordination with the Stearman Fly-In at 7:00am.
