
Frances Rae Lyons, 95, of Alexis, died at 9:23 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.She was born August 22, 1923, in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of Charles Edward and Lillian Mae (Call) Hunt. She married Bernard W. Lyons on March 21, 1943, in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death January 18, 2001. She is survived by three children, Barry W. (Sheila) Lyons of Farmersville, Ohio, Karen M. Johnson of Media, Pennsylvania, and Liana R. (Bob) Terwilliger of Alexis; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Murdock of Cambria, California. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Bonnie Kay Lyons; and a sister, Audrey M. Hunt. Frances was raised and educated in California, graduating from Hamilton High School in Culver City in 1941. At the conclusion of World War II, she and Bernard moved to the Rio area in 1945 to begin farming. In 1990, they retired and moved to Alexis. Frances was a homemaker who loved painting, crafting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Rio Presbyterian Church. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. The family will gather privately at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel prior to the service.
