
Mrs. Lois E. Bruget, 88, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:15 pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at the OSF Hospice Home, Peoria.She was born May 27, 1930 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Florence Mushrush Davis. She married Orville “Buster” Bruget on June 19, 1948 in Yankton, South Dakota, where they farmed for 18 years. Lois is survived by her five daughters, Lynn (and Ken) Lockwood of Knoxville, Illinois, Marcia (and Mike) Mathews of Rapid City, South Dakota, Suzanne (and Gerard) Zweber of Mission Hill, South Dakota, Jennifer (and Jerry) Armstrong of Rapid, City, South Dakota and Stephanie (and Gary) Smith of Galesburg, her sister, Charlotte Coffey of Henderson, Nevada, twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Gabby. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Monica, and her sister, Donna Mazzucca. She moved to Galesburg in 1967. Always a hard worker, she worked for St. Mary’s Hospital, Medical Arts Clinic and OMC Gale Products before retiring from NAEIR in 2003. Upon retiring, she volunteered for many years at Cottage Hospital. Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg. She claimed her greatest and most rewarding accomplishment was being a mother to “her girls” for which she was a strong and supportive role model. Her spirit and zest for life was contagious. She will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing she is laughing with loved ones in heaven. She loved the Dr. Seuss quote-Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened…
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at East Linwood Cemetery. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owen Hospice Home, Peoria or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
