Harriet J. Ewing, 80, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 5:09 pm, Monday, October 1, 2018 at the OSF Richard Owens Hospice House, Peoria, IL
Harriet was born February 7, 1938 in Jamesport, MO the daughter of Walter and Marie (Black) Bennett. She was raised and educated in Victoria, IL, graduating from ROVA High School in 1956.
Harriet married Carl Ewing in Dubuque, IA on October 27, 1956 and he survives.
She was a homemaker and assisted in managing the family business, Ewing Door Sales, Peoria for many years.
She was a founding member of Countryside Bible Church in rural Monmouth. She enjoyed talking politics, painting, nature, country music and sharing about our Lord, Jesus Christ. Harriet loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Ewing; 4 children, Carla Ewing of Monmouth, Kelli Ewing of Monmouth, Jeff Ewing of Monmouth and Jennifer Ewing of LaHarpe; 3 grandchildren, Logan Ewing, Rileigh Ewing both of Monmouth and Olivia Pflasterer of LaHarpe; her siblings, Eva Bainbridge, Norman Bennett, Joan Peterson, Larry (Melody) Bennett and Peggy (Mike) Kraynak along with family member, Lynn Halcomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Walter Bennett, Jr, Rex Bennett and William “Bill” Bennett; her sister, Patty Bennett.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, October 8, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Gerlaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the funeral home from 2:00-5:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Strom Center, Monmouth.
