Galesburg Silver Streaks Football @ United Township Panthers

ghssportsfooftballflipper-30

Here is a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

The Galesburg High School football team got its first win of the season in impressive fashion. A running clock 48 to 7 victory over the United Township Panthers. That gets the Silver Streaks to 1 – 6 on the season and 1-3 in Western Big 6 Conference play. The turning point of the game was four Silver Streak touchdowns in the first three and a half minutes of the second quarter.

Galesburg scored on a touchdown run by Kobe Ramirez five seconds into the second quarter to cap off the scoring drive. Then GHS forced United Township into a short punt and the Streaks scored 3 plays later from 21 yards out. They had an interception inside the end zone for a touchdown, and another quick score that opened up a 35 nothing lead then ended in a 48 – 7 final score.

Kobe Ramirez finished with just under 100 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns in the game.

Our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-time Player of the Game was Demetrius Pulley. Pulley forced out Caleb Stone at the 5 yard line and then the Streaks pushed United Township backward and that scoring drive on 1st and goal ended with Kobe Ramirez intercepting the ball and running it back into Silver Streak territory.

The Streaks now come back home for their final two games of the regular season, next Friday against Alleman.
