ORLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) – A suburban Chicago man faces felony hate crime charges after he allegedly broke windows of a church and spray-painted doors and walls with anti-religious words.
In a news release, Orland Park Police say that 23-year-old Luke Corrigan of Orland Park was arrested over the weekend after a police officer recognized him on surveillance camera video.
Police say Corrigan was charged with five felony counts of committing a hate crime at a church in connection with five incidents this year at the Living Word Lutheran Church.
Corrigan was also charged with arson after police discovered that he allegedly tried to set a fire at the church.
Corrigan was taken to Cook County Jail where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
